So, just as my train went over The Manhattan Bridge, I finished the last page of section one of The Hunger Games--I've been reading slowly to savor every image--the televised interview with all of the tributes and Peeta's declaration. I had to bite my lip to keep from squealing on the train.
Eeeeeeeeeee!
It's so good.

Say a person prefers books with a happy ending...would this qualify? I'm one of those people who only watches movies if they are funny etc. Since 9/11 I notice that I am very fluffy about my entertainment choices. I don't mind some drama, but there needs to be balance and there needs to be hope because I use books and movies to escape real life.
Have you rushed off to buy Catching Fire yet?
You've got to read Catching Fire next. It's even better!
Hehe! The Hunger Games was a fabulous novel! And Catching Fire is just as good! I read through those two like a starving rhino (I'm serious!). Now, I sit here idly twittling my thumbs until the next installment comes out! Ahh!
MeganRebekah, Amanda and Connie--not yet, but I'm sure I will. Does it have the sort of ending that will make me want to read the next one *right that second*?
And please don't tell me it's a happy ending!
I mean, I think I have some idea of what will happen, but...
@ Gwen--I'm *always* the sort of person who runs (sometimes screaming) from the room if anything unhappy/scary comes on TV. But I love this. It's so good it doesn't matter.
Ack. What I meant was, "Don't tell me IF it's a happy ending."
But there's a sequel, so....
To answer your question, "Does it have the sort of ending that will make me want to read the next one *right that second*?" um, yes.
I didn't know it was part 1 of a trilogy when I bought Hunger Games. After finishing, I immediately ran to the Interwebs, searched the pub date of Catching Fire, and marked my calendar.
Let's just say that yes, you will run, not walk, RUN to the bookstore to get the sequel! LOL!
And I would never spoil the ending for you! That would just be sick and wrong!! ;)
Hee hee. Amanda, I love how you describe spoiling the ending of a book that is (in its brilliant way) sick and wrong as, well, sick and wrong. :)
Hee hee! True, very true! But I loved Peeta so much I read through the sick and wrongness just to get more of him! :P
This is definitely a *must read all three books right this second* type of series. Oh the horror of having to wait a year for the third! *cries*
